Conference Speaker Challenges Value of Gladwell's Blink for Strategic Planners

Dr. Kevin Clancy, consultant and co-author of several books on strategic marketing, will challenge the concepts in Malcolm Gladwell's bestselling book Blink in his keynote speech at the upcoming Association for Strategic Planning conference. The conference takes place on February 24-46, 2008 in Marina Del Rey, California.

(Issues Wire / PRWEB) January 29, 2008 -- The Association for Strategic Planning (ASP) will feature Kevin J. Clancy, Ph.D., co-founder, chairman and CEO of Copernicus Marketing Consulting, and co-author of books including Counter-Intuitive Marketing, Marketing Myths That are Killing Business, and his latest titled Your Gut is Still Not Smarter Than Your Head, a contrarian view of the popular Blink: The Power of Thinking Without Thinking, written by Malcolm Gladwell, as a keynote speaker at the ASP annual conference on February 24-26, 2008, in Marina Del Rey, California.

Strategic Planning & Action: Driving Growth from Change
Dr. Clancy will address the problems of shrinking profit margins and chronically low rates of organic growth to an audience of corporate and non-profit executives, government personnel, strategy consultants and service providers, students and professors of strategic planning. Dr. Clancy is an outspoken advocate for a far more customer-centric approach to strategy development and argues forcefully against mainstream strategy and marketing practices.

The conference, "Strategic Planning & Action: Driving Growth from Change," features thought leaders including speakers from prestigious consulting firms such as Booz Allen Hamilton, Bain & Company, and Accenture. According to Jim Wilson, ASP Conference Co-Chair in 2007, "The annual ASP Conference is an excellent setting for executives and their colleagues to hear from strategic planning thought leaders, reflect on the issues and opportunities confronting their organizations and to begin mapping their strategic direction for coming year. Adding Kevin Clancy to our roster of speakers this year is a real coup for ASP and should create some controversy among the strategic planning community."

The Association for Strategic Planning (ASP) is the preeminent professional association for those engaged in strategic thinking, planning, and action. ASP currently has members in 35 states and several foreign countries, and active chapters operating in twelve metropolitan areas, with others in formation. The chapters serve the local area with networking and educational programs geared to the subject of strategic planning.

For more information about ASP or the annual conference, please contact ASP's Executive Director Janice Laureen at 877 816-2080 or by emailing her at executivedirector(at)strategyplus.org.
