The Sedona Conference® Institute Launches All-Star Continuing Legal Education Program on eDiscovery & the New Federal Rules of Civil Procedure

The Sedona Conference® announces the formation of The Sedona Conference Institute, designed to bring high-quality professional education to audiences in major cities across the country.

SEDONA, AZ (Issues Wire / PRWEB) August 25, 2006 -- The Sedona Conference®, a nonprofit law and policy think-tank based in Sedona, AZ, announced the formation of The Sedona Conference Institute, designed to bring high-quality professional education to audiences in major cities across the country, based on materials and faculty drawn from The Sedona Conference® Working Group Series. The first TSCI event will be held on the campus of Northwestern University School of Law in Chicago on Friday, September 15, and will feature an all-star faculty on the topic of eDiscovery and the new Federal Rules of Civil Procedure.

The full-day program will be keynoted by Hon. Lee Rosenthal, U.S. District Court Judge for the Southern District of Texas and chair of the U.S. Judicial Conference Advisory Committee on Rules of Civil Procedure. Judge Rosenthal and her Committee proposed the amendments to the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure after conducting a five-year public study of the unique issues involved in the discovery of electronically-stored information. Joining her on the faculty will be leading litigators, in-house counsel, and eDiscovery experts, most of whom are members of The Sedona Conference® Working Group on Electronic Document Retention and Production and contributors to its highly acclaimed publication, The Sedona Principles. This faculty includes Thomas Y. Allman, Mayer Brown Rowe & Maw LLP, Chicago, IL; Peter B. Bensinger, Jr., Bartlit, Beck, Herman, Palenchar & Scott LLP, Chicago, IL; Robert L. Byman, Jenner & Block, Chicago, IL; Conor R. Crowley, Labaton Sucharow & Rudoff LLP, New York, NY; Michael J. Gray, Jones Day, Chicago, IL; William H. Herr, The Dow Chemical Company, Midland, MI; John H. Jessen, Electronic Evidence Discovery, Inc., Kirkland, WA; Pauline Levy, McDonaldýs Corporation, Oak Brook, IL; James H. Mutchnik, Kirkland & Ellis LLP, Chicago, IL; Ashish S. Prasad, Mayer Brown Rowe & Maw LLP, Chicago, IL; Jonathan M. Redgrave, Redgrave Daley Ragan & Wagner LLP, Washington, DC; Prof. Martin H. Redish, Northwestern University School of Law, Chicago, IL; Brian S. Westenberg, Miller, Canfield, Paddock and Stone, P.L.C., Troy MI; and Kenneth J. Withers, The Sedona Conference, Phoenix, AZ

Among the topics this all-star faculty will discuss will be the history of the new eDiscovery rules; the relationship of the new rules to existing state rules, case law, and The Sedona Principles; the practical application of the rules in eDiscovery litigation; implementation of electronic records control and other measures by corporations and government agencies in response to the new rules; and effective advocacy in eDiscovery cases.

Registration is $495/person; $445/person if two or more from the same firm register at the same time. Unlike the small, two-day dialogue-based conferences for which The Sedona Conference® has become well known, The Sedona Conference® Institute one day CLE programs are not restricted in audience size.
