European Media Favors Democrats More than Does U.S. Media

Analysis Reveals That Top Democrats Appear in 10 Percent More Presidential Election Media Articles in Europe

San Mateo, Calif. (Issues Wire / PRWEB) January 28, 2008 - January 28, 2008 - Biz360® Inc., the leading provider of media and market intelligence solutions, today released analysis of the past 30 days of U.S. and European media coverage of the 2008 U.S. presidential election. The analysis indicates that while Democrats Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama dominate U.S. media coverage, their share of coverage is even greater in European media - the two candidates appear in 10 percent more of the total European coverage than they do in U.S. media articles. The third-ranking candidate in European coverage is Republican John McCain, who trails second place by 24 points. With U.S. media coverage, that gap is half as great.

Biz360's media analysis is based on print and online news articles from U.S. and European media sources. Biz360 continuously monitors millions of global news media sources, including both traditional and social media in English and non-English languages, for relevant insights and trends to help improve strategic decision making.

In a global economy with business and family ties around the world, opinions abroad can affect decisions in the U.S.

  • Clinton maintains a five-point media lead over Obama in Europe compared with the three-point lead she currently has in U.S. media coverage
  • Clinton and Obama received 69 percent and 64 percent of European media articles respectively, compared to 57 percent and 54 percent of U.S. coverage
  • McCain led European GOP media coverage with 40 percent, followed by Mitt Romney and Mike Huckabee who share the fourth place overall ranking with 38 percent

"In a global economy with business and family ties around the world, opinions abroad can affect decisions in the U.S.," said Tony Priore, chief marketing officer for Biz360, Inc. "Political candidates, corporate leaders and other high profile personalities can use traditional and social media analysis to understand opinions abroad that may impact their reputation at home."
