Doe Run Recycling Division Earns Recertification for Environmental, Management Standards

The Doe Run Company’s Buick Resource Recycling Division (BRRD), one of the world’s largest single-site lead recycling facilities, has been recertified for quality management systems and environmental standards by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO).

Boss, MO (Issues Wire / PRWEB) February 20, 2008 -- The Doe Run Company’s Buick Resource Recycling Division (BRRD), one of the world’s largest single-site lead recycling facilities, has been recertified for quality management systems and environmental standards by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO). The certifications are for ISO 9001:2001 and ISO 14001:2004.

SO 9001:2001 provides customers with assurance that BRRD delivers products and services that meet standards and guidelines relating to quality management systems, including performance, documentation, training and financial aspects. ISO 14001:2004 recognizes the facility’s environmental safeguards, procedures and management systems.

ISO certifications are often an important determining factor when a company selects us as a business partner
“ISO certifications are often an important determining factor when a company selects us as a business partner,” said Steve Arnold, general manager of BRRD. “These certifications provide meaningful validation to our employees, customers, potential customers and the community of our commitment to quality in all areas of our operation. It’s an accomplishment that has a direct, positive impact on our business.”

BRRD, which opened in 1991, recycled more than 13.5 million lead-acid batteries in 2007. A typical automotive battery contains approximately 20 pounds of lead, 1 gallon of sulfuric acid and 2 pounds of plastic. In addition, BRRD is one of the few facilities in the world that accepts and recovers lead from cathode ray tube (CRT) glass, found in many computer monitors and television screens. The facility recycled more than 275,000 CRTs in 2007.
