  • Obama Favorable Blogosphere Sentiment At 42%, Falling from 51%; Clinton Favorable Sentiment Rises to 41% from 40%

  • WHAT:
Lexalytics, a leading provider of text analytics and social media monitoring (SMM) software solutions that power www.politicaltrends.info, today announced the latest results of its 2008 Presidential campaign blog sentiment analysis. For the first time in U.S. Presidential election history, the blogosphere - and sentiment conveyed within -- is flexing its muscle on the voting public. So, what exactly is being said about the candidates in the social media?
There are more than 300 blogs being measured by Lexalytics in www.politicaltrends.info during the 2008 Presidential campaign. Lexalytics' media measurement software analyzes the subject matter to determine "what or who's hot" and "what or who's not" within the blogosphere. According to the latest Lexalytics sentiment analysis, for the week ending March 8, 2008:
  • Senator Barak Obama (D-IL) has recorded a significant decline in favorable sentiment from 51% to 42%, while Senator Hillary Clinton (D-NY) shows a slight increase in favorable sentiment from 40% to 41%.
  • Republican nominee Senator John McCain (R-AZ) registers a neutral sentiment rating, following a significant spike in both favorable and unfavorable blog commentary, following last month's New York Times story that alleged impropriety with a Washington lobbyist.
  • Issues dominating the political landscape in the blogosphere during the analysis period include delegate counts, potential running mates, tax returns, healthcare, and the Bush Administration.
WHO:
Jeff Catlin, CEO of Lexalytics, is available for media interviews regarding the latest Lexalytics 2008 Presidential campaign blog sentiment survey. Lexalytics will issue regular Presidential Campaign Sentiment Analysis reports through the November general election.
