Chicago, IL (Issues Wire / PRWEB) March 7, 2008 -- IES Abroad (the Institute for the International Education of Students) has earned a Silver Award in the 23rd Annual Admissions Advertising Awards, the oldest and largest educational advertising awards competition in the country.

IES Abroad, one of the most experienced and reputable organizations providing study abroad programs to U.S. college and university students, was selected as an award winner from among 2,000 entries submitted by more than 1,000 colleges, universities and secondary schools representing all 50 states and several foreign countries. With it's first-ever entry in the annual competition, IES Abroad earned a Silver Award for schools with 5,000-9,999 students in the category of "Total Recruitment Package." In addition to the Silver Award, IES Abroad earned the distinction of being the only third-party education provider to win an award.

This award is evidence that the study abroad professionals at IES Abroad are among the best in the country and that they are fully committed to improving the global awareness of Americans through encouraging students to study abroad.
The IES Abroad entry consisted of several marketing pieces created by the organization to support student recruitment through its academic partners across the country. Gayly Opem, executive vice president of marketing at IES Abroad, said the IES Abroad materials were recognized for their exceptional quality, creativity and message effectiveness.

"While I am tremendously proud of the creative and dedicated people whose talents earned this award for IES Abroad, I am even more proud knowing that our work helps students across the country access life-changing international study experiences," said Opem.

The IES Abroad "Total Recruitment Package" award entry included:

  • IES Abroad Website (www.IESabroad.org)
  • Recruitment posters
  • 2008-09 program catalogues
  • Discipline-specific brochures
  • General "Study Abroad with IES" brochure

"I am delighted that we have earned this recognition," said Mary M. Dwyer, Ph.D., president and CEO of IES Abroad. "This award is evidence that the study abroad professionals at IES Abroad are among the best in the country and that they are fully committed to improving the global awareness of Americans through encouraging students to study abroad."

The Gold Award in the "Total Recruitment Package" category went to West Texas A&M University. Judges for the competition consisted of a national panel of admissions' marketers, advertising creative directors, marketing and advertising professionals, and the editorial board of the Admissions Marketing Report, a national marketing publication for higher education professionals, which sponsors the annual competition.

IES Abroad (the Institute for the International Education of Students) is one of the nation's most academically reputable organizations providing study abroad programs to U.S. college and university students. Through more than 70 programs in Europe, Africa, Asia, South America, Australia and New Zealand, IES Abroad has educated over 65,000 students since its founding in 1950. IES Abroad serves students from more than 200 public and private colleges and universities, and commits nearly $2 million in student scholarships and financial aid each year.
