Mustaches for Kids-Charlotte Doubles Goal Raising Over $51,000

Mustaches for Kids-Charlotte is the number one chapter in the country. In their very first year, M4K-Charlotte has had record participation and raised record funds. With nearly 80 Growers, they raised over $51,000 for DonorsChoose.org, a nonprofit that provides funding for teacher-submitted projects to improve North Carolina public schools.

Charlotte, NC (Issues Wire / PRWEB) February 14, 2008 -- Mustaches for Kids-Charlotte has officially ended their inaugural growing season with a bang! This chapter, in their very first year has had record participation and raised record funds. With nearly 80 Growers, M4K-Charlotte raised an unprecedented amount, over $51,000.

Charlotte Growers have been growing their mustaches and raising money for DonorsChoose.org a nonprofit that provides funding for teacher-submitted projects to improve North Carolina public schools, for a month now. They held their final 'Stache Bash' to celebrate, this past Friday. Here the winners were crowned and the total dollars raised were announced.

The prestigious title of 'Sweetest Stache' went to Rd Covington. Also, not to be missed was the 'Worst Stache' winner. Though not as prestigious a title, the well-earned recognition was given to Josh Waters. Over the month, Josh was only able to grow a bit of peach fuzz, but he proudly showed off what he didn't have. Both will receive "Beer for a Year" from Breckenridge Brewery (one case per month for 12 months). Michael Szarowicz was recognized for raising the most money - more than $7,000.

"This fundraiser truly put the fun back in fundraising," said Joe Romanelli, President of Romanelli Communications. "Everyone went all out. We had record participation and the costumes worn at Friday's Stache Bash were a riot. Charlotte has an unbelievable group of people who rallied for our cause. And the money we raised is higher than I ever could've imagined. We doubled our original goal!"

The original goal was $25,000 which was upped to $30,000. This is the most any M4K chapter had raised until now. M4K-Charlotte now holds the record at $51,000.

Mustaches for Kids (M4K) is a national volunteer-run organization started in Los Angeles in 1999 to do good and have fun by growing Mustaches for children's charities. Through the years, M4K has enlisted the efforts of hundreds of brave Growers who, collectively, have raised funds for charities such as the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Children's Hospital of New Orleans, and San Francisco's Legal Services for Children.
