The awards were judged based on the effectiveness of the written text, design, financial data, creativity, graphics, organization and communication of the utility's story.

KUA's 2007 annual report, titled "That's the Way it Grows," earned the Award of Excellence among electric utilities with gross annual revenues of $75-$199 million.

The 46-page report reviews the utility's performance and details how operational "seeds" planted by the utility during the year blossomed to meet the demands of a growing customer base. The report is available online at http://www.kua.com/corporate.

The award was presented to KUA on Oct. 28 by APPA board chair Maude Grantham-Richards at the association's annual Customer Connections Conference in Nashville, Tenn. A list of the other contest winners can be found online at http://www.appanet.org/files/PDFs/r20081028.pdf.

APPA has honored KUA annual reports previously with Awards of Excellence in 1996, 2002, 2004, 2006 and 2007 and an Award of Merit in 1995.
