Connor Sport Court International To Provide Official Futsal Surface For Malaysia World Tournament

Connor Sport Court International (CSCI) will provide Sport Court brand event flooring for the games in Kuala Lumpur Jan. 29 to Feb. 3. ESPN Expects more than 310 million viewers of this event.

Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (Issues Wire / PRWEB) January 20, 2008 -- Connor Sport Court International (CSCI) has been named the provider of official flooring surfaces for the KL World 5's futsal tournament Jan. 29 to Feb. 3 in Malaysia's indoor Stadium Negara in Kuala Lumpur.

The tournament will feature national teams from Brazil, Argentina, Holland and England, joining in competition with Asian champion Iran, as well as China, Thailand, Indonesia, Australia and hosts Malaysia.

"The arrival of this tournament is a huge boost for the game, which is currently enjoying phenomenal growth in the country," said Datuk Sri Azalina Othman, Malaysia's Minister of Youth and Sports.

"Futsal is FIFA's official version of indoor or limited space soccer. It is very popular around the world and is quickly growing in America as well," said Andrew Gettig, vice president of CSCI's International Division. CSCI will provide its Sport Court® brand flooring for the event. Sport Court flooring gives the players the safety of a suspended, playing surface and the fast ball speed required for top level competition.

"Futsal is not generally played on synthetic turf or rubberized surfaces as they slow down the speed of the moving ball, thus slowing down the game," said Gettig. The KL World 5 Tournament is organized by ESPN Star Sports, the Asian sports broadcasting company, in cooperation with the Malaysian Ministry of Youth and Sports. The popular event features $150,000 in prize money for the winners.

ESPN said about 310 million viewers are expected to watch the event in Asia where the sport has exploded in popularity. Connor Sport Court International is based in Salt Lake City. Sport Court® is a registered trade mark of Connor Sport Court International.
