Inaugural Global Business Summit to be held in Grand Bahama Island on October 2-4, 2008

Business leaders, expert trade specialists, venture capital firms, procurement professionals and entrepreneurs will convene in Grand Bahama Island on October 2-4, 2008 to discuss and create new opportunities for small business and minority enterprise engagement in international trade.

Atlanta, Georgia (Issues Wire / PRWEB) January 18, 2008 -- The first Biennial Global Business Summit will be held on October 2-4, 2008, at Westin Resort at Our Lucaya Conference Center in Grand Bahama Island, The Bahamas. The Summit theme is "The Flow of Money: Gaining Competitive Advantage through International Trade". The event's main goals are to foster export/import trading; identify agents, representatives and distributors; and explore joint venture partnerships and strategic alliances.

International trade is key to the future. As globalization deepens, demographics is one of the most catalytic factors affecting the world. Particularly in the United States, a wide range of necessary micro-economic reforms will place pressure on minority businesses to strengthen their capacity to benefit from open trade and capital movements.

"Global Business Developers developed this campaign to help stimulate critical thinking and movement toward building supplier relationships to reach goals of overall prosperity," states Franzelle Pertilla, CEO, Global Business Developers. The firm has studied international business over the past 7 years, examined 20 supplier/member programs and visited international sites in the process. The strategic partnership with Bahamas Tourist Office, Atlanta, Georgia, facilitated the launch in October 2007 and site selection of Grand Bahama Island for the Summit's inaugural roll out.

Venture capital firms, export trade specialists, business leaders, policy makers, procurement professionals and entrepreneurs from the international community have been invited to participate in the event. Participants will converge in a relaxed island setting, but will be engaged in a rigorous three day agenda that will combine plenary sessions, concurrent workshops and mobile tour formats for global education and engagement. Attention is directed at the relationship between suppliers and procurement organizations, but also calls for more collaborative, action-oriented approaches for suppliers to build strategic alliances.

Global Business Developers also invites practitioners to submit papers that address the Summit's theme: "The Flow of Money: Gaining Competitive Advantage through International Trade", in a variety of ways. Just a few of the topics that submissions might address include:

  • Business facilitation/supply chain management
  • Global Travel, Tourism and Transportation
  • Import/Export Financing
  • Innovative Solutions through Collaboration
  • News, Media and Entertainment
  • Smart Technology - Concerns and Tensions
  • Stages in the International Involvement of A Firm
  • The Equation of Exchange
  • The Government's Role in International Trade
  • Global Workforce Development

The paper's outline should not exceed 750 words, including the paper's title, full name(s) of author(s). The paper and presenter's bio should be e-mailed to info@globalbusinessdevelopers by February 29, 2008 as a Microsoft Word document email attachment or can be mailed to Global Business Developers, 50 Hurt Plaza, Suite 945, Atlanta, Georgia 30303. Selected presenters will be notified by March 30, 2008.

Sponsorship and Exhibitor opportunities are available and encouraged. Sponsor packages and registration details will be made available as downloadable documents from the company's Web site. Sponsors and supporters of the event include:

  • Grand Bahama Island Chamber of Commerce
  • Pelican Bay Hotel and Resort
  • The Islands of the Bahamas
