Patterson, NY (Issues Wire / PRWEB) May 25, 2008 -- The National Fire Sprinkler Association (NFSA), the longest-tenured fire sprinkler advocacy organization in the U.S., has announced the election of new officers and area directors. Gregg Huennekens of United States Fire Protection was elected NFSA Chairman, Dennis Coleman of Engineered Fire Protection will serve as Vice Chairman, and Kevin Fee of Reliable Automatic Sprinkler Company has been elected Treasurer. Each will serve a two-year term.

"We are extremely fortunate to have dedicated people who are committed to advancing the fire sprinkler concept and the welfare of others," said John A. Viniello, president of NFSA. "Our new officers have the experience, knowledge and drive to take our message and our Association to the next level."

Huennekens, of Lake Forest, Ill., has been in the fire protection industry since 1967 where he began his career as a design trainee, eventually holding various sales and management positions. In 1986, he started United States Fire Protection, with offices in Milwaukee and Chicago. Today, United States Fire Protection is the largest fire sprinkler contractor in these two areas. He is very active in the NFSA Illinois Chapter where he was president for four years. In addition, he has held positions on NFSA's Board of Directors including Treasurer and Vice Chairman. Huennekens has been a member of National Fire Protection Association and NFSA for over 20 years.

Coleman, of St. Louis, began his career in the fire protection industry in 1978 after graduating from Brigham Young University with a degree in Civil Engineering. Following graduation, he worked for Engineered Fire Protection, where in 1983 he became the president. He has served on NFSA's Board of Directors since 1999 in a variety of positions including chairman of the Seminar and Exhibition Committee and chairman of the Contractor's Council.

Fee is Executive Vice President of Reliable Automatic Sprinkler Co., a 90-year-old, third-generation owned and operated manufacturer and distributor of fire sprinkler equipment, based in Elmsford, N.Y. He has more than 35 years of industry experience and is the longest tenured board member in the history of NFSA, having served over 25 consecutive years. In addition, he is a founding member of the International Fire Sprinkler Association (IFSA) and served as the IFSA's first chairman. Fee has been instrumental in many significant NFSA initiatives including the Association's Grassroots Participation Program, NFSA's Industry Spokesperson Program and the adoption of NFPA 25. He also helped to create the Fire Sprinkler Manufacturer's Industry Fund (SMIF), which provides funding for programs and events that will promote the fire sprinkler concept.
