Denver, CO (Issues Wire / PRWEB) August 14, 2008 -- Silent Message, an organization without political or religious affiliations, will be promoting a boycott of all Chinese products for the last week of the Olympic games August 18-24, 2008.

Tibet was invaded in 1949 by China in an unprovoked and unilateral attack that was rationalized by China as an act to reclaim what was rightfully theirs. Nothing in history clearly points to this as both countries have their own unique history and culture, with Tibet restating her independence again in 1911. It is ironic that such a circumstance should befall the peaceful entity of Tibet, with the Buddhist faith as it's moral compass and cultural consciousness. Since China annexed Tibet, the Chinese occupation has destroyed thousands of monasteries, killed and imprisoned over one million Tibetan people, and have profoundly suppressed Tibetan culture.

In 1959 HH, The Fourteenth Dalai Lama, fled his native Tibet to seek political asylum in India, where he has lived ever since. From time to time China has made political gestures towards Tibet's government in exile, but these are smoke-and-mirrors meetings that take place in out-of-the-way locations with low-level delegates.

Even though many people feel strongly about China's occupation of Tibet and their human rights record in general, they still support those actions by buying huge amounts of Chinese made products. Silent Message does not seek to show anger towards the people of China, but rather make their government understand the error of their ways. According to Silent Message, the people of Tibet have a right to choose their own path and religion and should never be persecuted for trying to do so. By making a united stand and boycotting Chinese products for one week periods of time, a powerful message will be sent to retail operations, corporations that do business in China and to the Chinese government.

The Olympic games is the perfect platform to launch such a campaign. To mark this a song called "Silent Message" has been recorded to play on the site and will be available shortly for download at most online retail stores. Written specifically for the project and performed by Jen Pumo, the proceeds of the sale of the song will go towards an open free Tibet. Please visit www.silentmessage.org for more information.
