Online Video Exposing Corruption in Florida Straw Poll Gets Over 30,000 Views in 72 Hours

An online video, which documents what the producers of the video call evidence of corruption in a recent St. Petersburg, Florida Straw Poll, is receiving a record number of views per hour, with over 30,000 views taking place in the past 72 hours.

San Diego, CA (Issues Wire / PRWEB) December 5, 2007 -- An online video posted on YouTube, one of the largest online video sharing web sites, is receiving a record number of views per hour, with over 30,000 views taking place in the past 72 hours.

The video is under ten minutes and documents what the producers of the video call evidence of corruption in a recent St. Petersburg, Florida Straw Poll, including fixed voting machines and a deliberate plot to manipulate the voting results.

The video shows the testimonial of Sofie Lefevre, a participant at the St. Petersburg Straw Poll, who was appalled to learn not only had the rules been changed to allow for multiple votes by one person, individuals were voting upwards of 40 times each with tickets they did not pay for but that were given to them by their party's campaign members.

Ms. Lefevre takes the position that a poll set up in this way defeats its entire purpose because it is "not a true representation of the people."

The day after the Straw Poll, Sofie contacted Tony DiMatteo, Chairman Pinellas County Republican Party of Florida, to complain about the faulty voting machines and what she defined as a voting system that was "unacceptable." As Sofie states in her video documentary, Mr. DiMatteo told her, "If you make a big deal out of this you will get hurt."

Ms. Lefevre, along with the head of her Clearwater Ron Paul 2008 Group, Paul, decided to take action by creating the video now posted on YouTube, which shows over 35,500 views as of this writing. Interestingly, the two whistle-blowers are using the story not as a reason to point blame or call for a recount, but as a plea to the general public to help "bring truth and honesty to politics again."

The results from video viewers are mixed, with one viewer of the video writing, "There's no point in voting in the real election then. It's going to be rigged even more [than this one]."

However, their message does seem to be resonating with many people. A viewer identified by the handle Bumblebee303 wrote in the video comments section, "As Americans we will not put up with this anymore !! WE WILL FIGHT FOR OUR FREEDOMS !!" and a viewer in Germany posted a comment saying, " I think it's now the time to take YOUR country back! Stop the corruption."
