Florida Institute of Technology Dives into the 'McCabe University' Program

McCabe Software to provide Software Quality Suite for College of Engineering.

Warwick, RI (Issues Wire / PRWEB) October 12, 2007 -- McCabe Software announces the contribution of McCabe IQ Enterprise Edition to the Florida Institute of Technology for use in their College of Engineering. As part of the McCabe University Program, McCabe's initiative to deliver their products to leading computer engineering programs, the company has licensed their flagship quality management suite to Dr. Wade Shaw, Department of Engineering Systems in the College of Engineering.

One of the institute's projects that will immediately see the benefits of McCabe IQ is the Ocean Engineering Department's Autonomous Underwater Glider. This glider will be one of the first generation of autonomous powered gliders. The glider, designed by Ocean Engineering professor Dr. Stephen Wood, is targeted to operate in a wide variety of scientific missions at a variety of locations and depths all over the ocean. The control system will allow the scientist to customize the mission and have the glider make stops at multiple depths or multiple areas to allow for more useful data collection. The glider will benefit many researchers from numerous fields allowing them to do anything from collecting water samples and biological specimens, to mapping the sea floor in detail, to analyzing the chemical make up of the water flows.

"We are aware of McCabe's success at various federal government, military, and commercial installations and wanted to bring the same level of software quality and testing analysis to our efforts," says Dennis Miller III, thesis candidate working on the Glider project. "We are starting the software phase for the Glider and know McCabe IQ will be a great asset to the project." "We apply high standards to the technology our students are exposed to at the institute", adds Dr. Shaw.

"We are excited to be involved in such a cutting edge project at the Florida Institute of Technology," says David Belhumeur, McCabe Software's CEO. "Their close association with technology leaders like NASA and Harris Corporation is well known and McCabe is glad to be in their company."
