Election Security Seal Becoming an Essential Anti-Fraud Tool for Campaign Websites

ElectionMall.com CEO Ravi Singh presents results from state’s first year using the Election Security Seal.

Baltimore, MD (Issues Wire / PRWEB) August 3, 2006 -- One year after the announcement of ElectionMall.com’s new and exclusive technology that authenticates official campaign and government websites, the world is ready for the results. The International Symposium on e-Democracy has invited Ravi Singh, founder and CEO of ElectionMall Technologies Inc., to discuss the global need for a system by which Internet users can verify a campaign website as an official website of the campaign before giving money to its proprietors. The overwhelming success of the Election Security Seal Program in the Commonwealth of Kentucky will be explored in Singh’s follow-up address to the International e-Democracy Symposium in Baltimore, MD, Thursday, August 3rd at 1:30 pm at the Sheraton Hotel.

The Election Security Seal program enables political candidates, officials, and groups to register a campaign site with the appropriate government office supervening elections, such as a Secretary of State. The government office confirms and authenticates the requesting site, listing it in an official online “Registrar Directory™” available to the public. Any time Internet users see an authentication seal on a campaign site or search engine return page, they can scroll their mouse over it and see verification information in real-time from the Secretary of State’s office.

“The Election Security Seal program provides the best kind of election assurance,” said Singh. “The government sets it up, the campaigns participate, and voters and citizens everywhere make it work for themselves in seconds.”

In its first year of operation, the Online Registrar Directory of the Commonwealth of Kentucky received over 400,000 unique visits.

“Without question, the Internet is a major communications vehicle for candidates and voters. The Commonwealth’s citizens deserve to have confidence that a Kentucky candidate’s site is authentic,” stated Secretary of State Trey Grayson. “This program represents the latest, cutting-edge initiative to build a stronger election system for Kentucky. Our Commonwealth is recognized as a national leader in election administration and with this service we continue that tradition.”

“The success of the Kentucky Program demonstrates how easy and inexpensive it is to cut down on fraud and disinformation during an election season,” said Dr. Michael Cornfield, Vice-President of Public Affairs at ElectionMall.com and an adjunct professor at the Graduate School of Political Management of George Washington University. “This is a genuine technological fix to an enduring problem in campaign discourse. Its ‘trust-but-verify’ approach has the potential to boost public confidence and participation in campaigns everywhere.”

The Election Security Seal Program is the Internet’s first and only real-time Identity Assurance infrastructure for websites.

The “Election Security™ Seal Program” is part of the eGovMall™ division of ElectionMall™ Technologies.
