Brooklin, ON (Issues Wire / PRWEB) April 9, 2006 -- On April 8th and 9th a small Canadian program offering sign language and music will be introduced to New York. This parent-tested program is based on methods shown to enhance language development in hearing children, ease frustration, and enhance long-term learning abilities.
Since 2001, WeeHands™ has taught over 4000 families, child care staff, teachers and other caregivers how to sign with their infants and toddlers. WeeHands classes and workshops teach parents how to use American Sign Language vocabulary with your wee ones through songs and play.
Sara Bingham, WeeHands founder, is bringing the WeeHands program to the New York area organization, Play2Gether. WeeHands classes combines songs and language development strategies to help babies and young children learn American Sign Language vocabulary. WeeHands and Play2gether will be exhibiting together, with Salsa Babies (another Toronto based company), at the:
The Baby & Toddler Expo
Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum, Long Island, New York
April 8-9, 2006
“We teach our babies to reach up to us when they want to be held, and we instinctively pick them up,” says Sara Bingham. “WeeHands helps parents create other moments like these every day by teaching babies American Sign Language signs. This creates opportunities to teach more language, improve communication, and strengthen the bond between parent and child.”
